Amidst accelerating climate change, Abu Moataz, a shepherd who inherited his trade from his father over two decades ago, struggles to maintain his family’s legacy as rainfall declines and feed costs rise. With water shortages and dwindling grass, raising sheep becomes an increasingly burdensome task, forcing him to travel long distances daily to secure water and pasture for his flock. His children are directly affected, having to leave school to help, which leads to a decline in their educational progress. Um Moataz, who manages the production of cheese from the sheep's milk, also faces difficulties due to reduced milk production from the lack of grass. The family’s constant relocation between highland and lowland areas according to the season adds further strain to their lives and complicates their social and educational situation. As Abu Moataz clings to the tradition of his ancestors, he contends with a rapidly changing reality where profits shrink and challenges mount, raising questions about the future of this traditional occupation in the face of new climatic and economic conditions.
